Over the years we find that the majority of our customers find very difficult to understand what fireplace rebate they require suit the existing or new insert electric or gas fire. What is a fireplace rebate?

Fireplace rebate is the allowance within a fire surround to recess a fire. The fireplace rebate is the distance from the back of the wall to the front of the back panel. In order to accommodate a fire you will need to know the recess requirements for your existing/new fire and the available space you have within your chimney or cavity. The recess depth required for your fire will be clearly indicated on your user manual as can be seen diagram. 

Installing a fireplace against a flat wall

if you're installing a fire surround against a flat wall, then you will need to have sufficient recess within the fire surround (often referred to as a fireplace rebate) to ensure that you fire fits within your fire surround. The majority of fire surround so that the UK are imported from low-cost countries overseas and have a maximum rebate size of 75 mm (approximately 3 inches). At Creative Fireplaces, we are unique in the fact that we are able to alter the fireplace rebate for all our fire surrounds them made-to-measure in our own Nottinghamshire factory.
